CC WINS!!!!!

CC is the first Indian Cy Young Winner since Gaylord Perry in 1972. The news was just released on ESPN . I’ll update this once the voting breakdown comes out. Way to go, CC. As I’ve said in blogs past, he is well deserving of this honor and was the most dominating pitcher in the AL this year, despite a bad postseason performance.
Cy Young Voting Breakdown
1. Sabathia, 1st place, 119 pts, 19 out of 28 1st place votes.
2. Beckett, 86 pts, 8 out of 28 1st place votes.
3. Lackey, 1 out of 28 1st place votes.
On a side note, "Fab" Fausto Carmona came in 4th place for the Cy Young voting, a very good way to end his great season.
Sabathia’s numbers this season:
Record: 19-7, ERA: 3.21, Ks: 209, IPs: 241 (MLB leader)
Sabathia was the workhorse of the Tribe. His IP proves this. He was a leader on and off the field, proving himself time and time again. He was 2nd the AL in complete games with 4 (Behind Roy Halladay of TOR). He kept the Tribe in the game numerous times, especially when they were struggling in July and early Aug. He gave the Tribe a chance to win every day, and would be a 25 game winner in the Tribe was hitting in July and Aug. In short, CC was the most valuable pitcher to his team in the AL, despite not reaching the 20 win mark. That speaks for itself and the baseball writers realized this. He was the best pitcher in the league and will be a force to contend with for years to come. Now, the Tribe needs to concentrate on signing him this offseason. He’s proved his worth and now its time for Mr. Dolan to pay for what we now know is the most valuable pitcher in the AL, if not all of MLB.
Fab Fausto

The Indians have not only one Cy Young candidate, but two. Sabathia is not the only one dealing, but Carmona too. After coming off a 2006 where Carmona failed in the closer role, he has stepped up and has become one of the star pitchers of the American League.
Carmona leads the league in ERA at 3.07. Ever since the All Star break, Carmona has been lights out. Manager Eric Wedge can depend on Carmona every start to give the Tribe a chance to win. As is the case with Sabathia, if the Tribe gave him the run support in July and Aug., Carmona would have well over 20 wins right now and the other Cy Young front runners wouldn’t even be considered. So much can be said about this right hander, but he will be critical if the Tribe gets into the post-season. Having a one-two-three punch of Sabathia, Carmona, and Byrd will be devastating to any opposing team.
On that note, the Magic Number is 9. Let’s hope Aaron Laffey can pull in a quality start this afternoon so we can beat KC. On that not, go Twins who are facing the Tigers this afternoon and are trying to avoid a sweep. The Tribe enters a critical series with the Tigers on Monday. If the Tribe sweeps the Tigers, the Magic Number can go down by 6. It’s critical that the Tribe keep their heads on straight going into this series.
